Founder Vernon Rudolph opened the first Krispy Kreme store in 1937 Winston-Salem, NC. The business man originally sold the donuts to local grocery stores and then to individual customers directly. Today, customers may purchase Krispy Kreme donuts at local supermarkets, gas stations, and other convenient stores as well as standalone locations. Krispy Kreme ventured into the international market with the opening of a store in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada in 2001. Other international locations exist in the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Asian, and Australia. Krispy Kreme offers a variety of donuts, coffee, and iced drinks. The company trades publicly on NYSE under the symbol KKD and maintains headquarters in Winston-Salem, NC.
