Founders Reuben and Rose Mattus established the luxury brand ice cream in the Bronx, NY, in 1961. The first flavors offered included vanilla, chocolate, and coffee. On November 15, 1976, the company opened the first retail store in Brooklyn, NY. The company grew throughout the U.S. and went on to open franchises in 50 other countries.
